Guadeloupe is an overseas department and region of the French Republic located in the Caribbean Sea. Geographically, it is situated south of Antigua and Barbuda and Montserrat, and north of Dominica. The territory consists of six inhabited islands—Basse-Terre, Grande-Terre, Marie-Galante, La Désirade, and two Îles des Saintes—along with 30 uninhabited islets and three inhabited islets.
The capital city is Basse-Terre, located on the southern west coast of Basse-Terre Island. The most populous city is Les Abymes, while Pointe-à-Pitre serves as the main center of business; both are situated on Grande-Terre Island. As of 2024, Guadeloupe had a population of 395,726.
