Sar Kani, also referred to as Serkanay, serves as the administrative center for the Sirkanay District located in the central region of Afghanistan's Kunar Province. Situated at an altitude of 775 meters, the village is positioned near the border of Pakistan to the south.
The district's geography is characterized by its proximity to the Kunar River to the north, which provides irrigation for a small portion of the local arable land. However, drought remains a significant challenge for the population. Due to past conflicts, approximately 70% of the houses in the area were destroyed, and many young men from the region currently live and work in Pakistan.
