Urgun is the primary town and largest city of Paktika Province in Afghanistan. It serves as the center of the Urgun District, which is the most populous district within the province.
Historically, Urgun served as the capital of Paktika. However, the provincial capital was relocated to Sharana in the west during the 1970s because Urgun lacked convenient access to the main Kabul–Kandahar Highway.
