Jalalabad is a city located in eastern Afghanistan and serves as the capital of Nangarhar Province. Historically, the city has been known by several names, including Tarunshahr, Nagarahara, and Adinapur.

The city has an estimated population of 318,733 people. Its current local government is led by Mayor Qari Bismellah Bilal, with Mohammad Ishaq Saeed serving as the deputy mayor.
