The term Qaisar is the Arabic version of the name Caesar, which originates from the cognomen of the Roman dictator Julius Caesar. Historically, the title was used by Arabs and Persians to refer to both Roman and Byzantine emperors as Qaisar-e-Rum. It was also adopted by Ottoman Sultan Fâtih Sultan Mehmed as Kayser-i Rum following his conquest of Constantinople in 1453, and by British monarchs as Kaisar-i-Hind during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
