Punjab is a geographical, ethnolinguistic, and historical region located in the northwestern part of South Asia. The territory currently comprises areas within modern-day Pakistan and northwestern India.
The region contains several major urban centers. Lahore serves as its largest city and historic capital. Other significant cities in Pakistan include Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan, and Sialkot, while notable cities in the Indian portion of the region include Ludhiana, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, and Patiala.
