Khinjan is a town located in Khinjan District, situated in the southern part of Afghanistan's Baghlan province. The area is characterized by its location within the Hindu Kush mountains.
The district serves as a transit point for the main Kabul-Kunduz highway, which passes through from south to west. The population is predominantly ethnic Tajik, making up approximately 85% of the residents, while Pashtuns, Hazaras, and Uzbeks each comprise about 5% of the remaining population.
