The Shahran are one of the largest tribes located in the Asir and Jizan region of Saudi Arabia. Their lands are bordered by Subay' and Al-Shalaowah to the north, 'Abida and Rofaidah to the east, Al Njou’ to the south, and several other groups including Banou Sha’ba and Shamran to the west. The population density to the west of Shahran territory is notably high due to its proximity to the large city of Abha.
Historically, the Shahran were involved in tribal wars with their neighbors, most notably with the Qahtan tribe. These conflicts ceased following the formation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The primary city and largest settlement of the Shahran is Khamis Mushayt, which serves as the fourth-largest trading center in Saudi Arabia and is well known for hosting a world-class military airbase.
