Chakaran is a village located in the Badakhshan Province of north-eastern Afghanistan. It is situated on the right bank of the Warduj River, approximately 18 miles southeast of Khairabad. The geography of the area features a stream that flows from a large ravine past the village and into the Warduj River.
Historically, Chakaran served as the primary village of the Warduj area and was the residence of the arbab and aksakal. Around 1900, it was described as a large settlement containing roughly 80 houses. The local economy involved the cultivation of various fruit trees, along with melons and watermelons.
