United Arab Emirates

Zubarah, also known as Al Zubarah or Az Zubarah, is an ancient ruined town situated on the northwestern coast of the Qatar peninsula. Located within the Al Shamal municipality, it sits approximately 65 miles (105 kilometres) from the capital city of Doha.

The settlement was founded in the mid-eighteenth century by the Bani Utbah tribal confederation, who migrated to the area from Kuwait. Due to its historical significance, Zubarah was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.
