Brunei, officially known as Brunei Darussalam, is a small but wealthy nation located on the northern coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It holds the distinction of being the only sovereign state situated entirely on Borneo, with the rest of the island divided between its larger neighbors, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Brunei's geography is closely tied to its neighbor, the Malaysian state of Sarawak. Aside from its coastline along the South China Sea, Brunei is completely surrounded by Sarawak.
